Business Services
The Business Services Department functions as an arm of the Operations Division of the District and is fully devoted to the mission of providing superior services, support, and safety to the GPISD community. Staff members are expected to exhibit integrity, commitment, and excellence while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism in school finances.
Dedication to Stewardship
In keeping with the goals set forth by our Board of Trustees and Superintendent, the Business Services Department will provide prudent stewardship of its financial resources to best support student success. Targets identified to demonstrate the efforts to achieve this goal are:
- Continue to develop and present transparent financial information demonstrating a commitment to high-quality professional standards
- Maintain an internal control framework where policies and procedures are created, implemented and communicated to ensure resources are safeguarded against waste, loss or abuse
- Ensure and demonstrate efficient and effective use of District financial resources
- Maintain the allocation of available resources to maximize student achievement and ensure accommodation of student growth
For demonstrating transparency and fiscal accountability, GPISD has been awarded the Association Of School Business Officials Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting (COE) for excellence and best practices in financial reporting.
This has been awarded to the District for fiscal years 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2021.For demonstrating excellence in school budget presentation, setting a high standard for transparent budget development, GPISD has been awarded the Meritorious Budget Award by the Association of School Business Officials. The Pathway to the Meritorious Budget Award was awarded for fiscal years 2016 and 2017.
The Meritorious Budget Award has been awarded to the District for fiscal years 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023.GPISD is the recipient of the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting Program. The GFOA established the program to encourage and assist state and local governments in preparing comprehensive annual financial reports that evidence the spirit of transparency and full disclosure, then to recognize individual governments that succeed in achieving that goal. The goal of the program is not to assess the financial health of participating governments, but rather to ensure that users of their financial statements have the information they need to do so themselves.
This has been awarded to the District for fiscal years 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2021.The TASBO Award of Merit for Purchasing Operations recognizes the school district's achievement in implementing best practices in the area of purchasing and appreciates efforts to achieve excellence in the performance of purchasing operating.
