  • Our April spotlight is Derek Boles, a 2001 North Shore Senior High graduate. He also attended Tice Elementary and Cunningham Middle School. While in high school, Boles was a member of National Honor Society, Texas Scholars, Who’s Who Among American High School students and Top Teens of America. He was the senior class representative and a 3-year varsity football letterman.

    After high school, Boles attended Trinity University, where he served as vice president of Trinity University Black Student Union, a member of the Inroads Organization and the Trinity football team. In 2009, he completed his Master’s in education leadership from Lamar University.

    He attributes his academic success to God’s grace and mercy and his mother’s prayers and guidance. Boles had tons of educators and coaches who influenced him including Mr. Allen, Gents advisor, and Mr. Briggs, Cunningham Middle School math teacher.

    Currently, Boles is co-owner of Generation Realty in Houston, where he is an investor, property manager and project consultant. In the future, he plans to grow his business.

    Boles has been named to the Top 40 Under 40 Real Estate Professionals in Houston and Top 50 Professionals and Entrepreneurs in Texas.

    He is dedicated to the Houston community at large and continues to be a positive example to his peers and younger generations.
