³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏ Alumni Spotlight

  • Our October spotlight is Mark Orphey, a 2007 North Shore Senior High School graduate.  He also attended North Shore Middle School. While in high school, Orphey was an active member of Gents and participated in track and football. He was named the 2007 District MVP for track and All-District in football.

After high school, Orphey attended Texas Southern University, where he played football and ran track. In 2011, Orphey graduated with a degree in business management. After completing his bachelors, Orphey went to the University of South Carolina to receive his master’s in health information technology.

Orphey attributes his success to the overwhelming support he received from the administrators and educators. Orphey still has a few educators and employees who play a major role in his life including Jon Kay, Brian Allen, Garrett Cross and his mother, Tresa Orphey. He described these four individuals as exemplary and visionary mentors, who have dedicated their life to the service of humanity.

Orphey currently lives in Montana where he is the defensive backs coach at Montana State University. While coaching, he also uses his platform to educate his players on the importance of building character. He wants the players to know it’s not just about being an athlete or winning on the field, but winning in life.

In the future when he is done coaching college football, Orphey would like to be the head coach at North Shore Senior High.
