  • Our January spotlight is Lee Rountree, a 1977 Galena Park High School graduate.  He attended Pyburn Elementary, McArthur Elementary and Galena Park Middle School. While in high school, Rountree was a very active student serving as Class of 1977 President and voted Best Dressed and Most Likely to Succeed. He was a member of the Key Club, Hi-Y Club, Student Council and Good Sportsmanship League.

Rountree attributes his success as a GPISD student to his teachers and administrators. Growing up in Galena Park, he would see teachers and administrators around town, and they became a big part of his life while attending GPISD schools. They became the support students needed to get their lives started after high school. His favorite teachers were Mr. Trammel and Mrs. Hale.

After high school, Rountree attended Texas A&M and later moved back to Houston to work at the family clothing store, Rountree -Williams Menswear. He served as Vice President of Sales and Merchandising for 28 years.

Rountree is now working for Resource MFG, the nation’s largest manufacturing workforce specialist, placing skill and semi-skilled people in manufacturing jobs. He is the Business Development Manager for Resource MFG- Houston and has been inducted into the President’s Club twice, which is the Top 5% of sales in the company. In the future, Rountree wants to continue working in this rewarding field and to educate young people that manufacturing jobs are a great career path.

Rountree serves on the GPISD CTE Advisory Board, and has been a member of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo for the past 34 years. He was Chairman of the World’s Championship Bar-B- Que committee from 2004-2006 and became a HLSR Board Director in 2005.
