³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏ Alumni Spotlight

  • Meet Tyler McCue, a 2013 graduate of Galena Park High School. While in high school, Tyler was a member of the National Honor Society, LULAC, the Book Club, and he graduated in the top 10% of his class.

Tyler chose to continue his education at Utah Valley University because of the opportunity to live in a new area of the country and to have new experiences.  He also decided to pursue his education in Utah because he has family in the area, and we all know there is nothing like spending time with loved ones. Tyler also enjoys the cold weather, which he didn't get to experience much while in Houston.

Although transitioning from home to an out-of-state school is never easy, Tyler believes his experience will help him become a better person and has already helped him to mature into the role of a responsible adult. While going to an out-of-state school can be expensive, he was able to pay in-state tuition for his first year, and he was also able to save money by taking AP classes while in high school.  His AP hours transferred, which allowed him to enter college as a sophomore.

He plans to obtain a degree in Behavioral Science with an emphasis in family psychology. Tyler shares that he chose this major because he has always been interested in why people do the things they do. Once he obtains his bachelor’s degree from Utah Valley University, he plans to move back to Houston to further his education and pursue a Master’s degree in Social Work or Psychology. His desire is to become a clinical psychologist.

We are very proud of Tyler, and we look forward to seeing him walk across the stage as a graduate many more times!
