Dr. Michelle M. Cavazos, Principal
Dr. Cavazos has been in the education field for 24 years-all in Galena Park I.S.D. She taught at Woodland Acres Elementary and Middle School prior to becoming the assistant principal at Sam Houston Elementary. In 2011, she became the Principal. She received her Bachelors of Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of Houston and later received her masters from the University of Houston Clear Lake. She recently completed her doctoral program in Educational Leadership with an emphasis on Technology Innovation at Lamar University. Her research studies included social emotional learning in Title I schools.
She has a strong belief that every child can and will succeed. Her favorite quote from Rita Pierson is "Every child deserves a champion. An adult who will never give up on them, who understands the power of connection, and insist they become the best they could possibly be."

During her spare time, Dr. Cavazos enjoys spending time with her family. She is married with two grown children and she has one granddaughter. She enjoys reading, journaling, and cooking.
